OSTEOPATHY & REHAB

Osteopaths are allied health professionals who focus on the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. This often involves education, manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation. At Run It Back Rehab & Performance we value empowering you to get back to doing what you love.

We are passionate about providing honest and evidence based care  and we are central in Melbourne's West, servicing Truganina, Tarneit, Derrimut, Caroline Springs, Point Cook, Williams Landing, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Altona Meadows, St Albans, Footscray and more.

Our
Approach

We begin with a thorough history of your condition or issue, giving you the chance to tell your story.

We then assess your movement and function to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan that is tailored for you and your goals.

We explain what the treatment plan will look like, which may involve some form of manual therapy, followed by exercise rehabilitation to get you stronger and moving better.

Our Team

Arie van der Merwe

Osteopath

After completing a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy), I spent the last four years working in a variety of settings; private practice, aged care and football clubs. Through these experiences, I became proficient in diagnosing and treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, utilising manual therapy techniques (soft tissue release/massage, joint manipulation, dry needling) to improve patients symptoms and exercise rehabilitation to get them back moving freely. I have always been very active in sport, particularly in Athletics throughout my teenage years. I dealt with a lot of injury and chronic pain, often being left frustrated by the lack of results I achieved with various practitioners. This led to me becoming an Osteopath, motivating me to provide the solutions that a lot of people never receive. My goal of every session with a patient is to hopefully have them feeling more confident about their own body and their future than when they first walked through the door. My approach and treatment philosophy is often fairly simple: Calm sh*t down and build it back up. I want to get you less reliant on hands on treatment and more capable and confident to exercise and move freely. I know how it feels to be unable to enjoy the things you want to do, and I want to be able to work with you to achieve those goals.

What should I wear to the appointment?

  • Wear comfortable clothing (such as exercise clothing) to allow you to perform movements/exercises

  • For certain manual therapy techniques (such as dry-needling or massage), it may be necessary for the practitioner to ask you to remove your t-shirt or pants to expose your skin. Please note that you certainly do not need to remove clothing if you are uncomfortable, and this is something your practitioner can talk to you about. This is not a requirement whatsoever!
